Homemaking Matters
What is Homemaking? I used to think that homemaking is just for moms or stay at home wives who does all the cooking, cleaning, scrubbing, washing clothes and dishes. To further understand about that word, I googled it. This is what I got
Homemaking-
The creation and management of a home, especially as a pleasant place in which
we live…
Homemaker - A
person especially a house wife who manages a home.
I wanted to find more meaning about it so I googled
Biblical Homemaking. And this is what I’ve found.
Biblical homemaking - is
successfully running and managing your home for God’s glory…
Over the past 5 years of my life as a married
woman, I have slowly gotten into homemaking. I didn’t see the deeper importance
of it in the beginning. And that home life was just part of an obligations of
being married and having a family life. My focus was more on my career and
earning money for a living. My effort, energies, goals was all set in working
too hard, getting a promotion, getting a business and have enough money to
sustain our family’s basic needs.
Until frustrations came in, promotions given to
others, feeling left behind at work with my colleagues, school mates and
friends. It was like all my hopes and efforts were unappreciated. Then I realized
something else… I have asked myself a lot of questions. Who am I, why I was
here, and what is my purpose in life…
And this strikes me:
I began to see that homemaking is more than just
cleaning the bathrooms or sweeping the floors, as a woman regardless of our
marital, parental, or employment status, Homemaking is our thing. That there’s
sanctity in keeping our home. Homemaker is much more a significant role than
having an illustrious career or getting a promotion at work (I bet not everyone
will agree with me).
God has entrusted me a family of my own. A husband
and a son, I will have more influence over their lives more than anything or anyone
else in this world. And that is to be taken seriously. And that is to be taken seriously.
I’m not an
expert in family life and home making. Just like anyone else, I am in a journey of learning, developing, and
discovering my God given role as a woman. And our special assignment is to
be a home maker. As for my experience, and like any other wife and
mom out there, being a home maker is a tough “job” and often over whelming and
exhausting. But if you have the love and passion for your family and God, you
will find joy within your home.
How can we run our home the biblical way? Join me
as I dive deep into the journey of womanhood and become an effective Homemaker
that glorifies the Lord.
Here are some of the guide we can use straight
from the bible…
- - PROVERBS 31 is an ultimate guide for
biblical womanhood.
- - TITUS 2 Model for home making, women
mentoring women growing and learning together
“The beautiful
thing about being a homemaker is that God gave us the tools that we
need to fill our role – even if we work full time outside the home or are not
married yet. God has made women naturally caring, nurturing, intelligent,
and able to balance a million things at once. When I refer to a homemaker,
I am simply referring to a woman who spends even a tiny bit of her day making
her home atmosphere just a little more Christ-Centered. “– Jami Balmet
Today,
I hope and pray that you recognize the importance of homemaking, that no matter
how tough and insignificant our daily task is, it Matters....
